4 Shake-Less Ways You Haven’t Thought of To Use Protein Powder

You already know the importance of eating plenty of protein, especially on days when you put yourself through a WOD. If your protein shakes are losing their excitement, here are some other ways to incorporate protein powder into your diet without drinking it.

Cookie “Dough”

If you have a sweet tooth, this one’s for you. All you need is about 2 tablespoons of coconut flour, one scoop of your favorite protein powder, and 1 tablespoon of nut butter (make sure it’s the no sugar added kind.) Add your favorite nut milk until the mixture has a cookie dough consistency and throw in a few chocolate chips. Before you roll up your sleeves, keep in mind that this should still be considered a treat, not a daily snack.

Oatmeal

Vanilla protein powder works best for this, but there’s really no right or wrong. Just prepare rolled oats as you usually would, add in your favorite fruit, and mix in a scoop of protein powder. But steer clear of the instant, flavored packets of oatmeal.

Mashed Potatoes

Yes, you read that right. Protein packed mashed potatoes are actually a thing. Make them fresh (NO boxed versions) and toss in some unflavored protein powder. This is elevated comfort food at its best.

Cereal

Seriously, you have no excuse for not getting tons of protein in with this, plus it’s an easy post-workout snack. To avoid a grainy taste, mix whey protein into your milk before adding it to your cereal. And as for the cereal itself, reach for one with no more than 5 grams of sugar per serving.
