CrossFitting Postpartum

Congrats on your sweet bundle of joy! Some say that children are the greatest gift you can give yourself -- and we totally get it. But we also understand how that little babe has turned your world upside down in every way possible. And now working out seems all the more harder. It's going to take some patience and flexibility to get back into the swing of things (and clearance from your doctor that it's ok to exercise) but you can do it. Here are some tips to help you out. Talk to your partner When it comes to workout times, what worked pre baby may go out the window now. Look at the class schedule and explore all of your options. Even the class times you don't really like. If you used to be an evening Crossfitter, it may be that morning classes are in the cards for you now. But you're probably getting up super early anyway, right?? Develop a morning schedule with your partner, alternating days to get up with the baby. Use your off days to come to class. Wean your way back in Muscles have memory, but youre gonna need patience. It's likely you'll need to regress from where you were pre-pregnancy, but it's only temporary. No shame in picking up the training bar. You'll hit a new PR before you know it, and in the meantime ask your coach to suggest modifications for any movements that are too difficult right now. If you've had a c-section, it's especially important to be mindful of core work. Watch the clock Sometimes classes run over an hour. It's not intentional, yet it happens from time to time. But we get that an hour on the dot may be all you have now. Just let your coach know if youve got to leave early. We won't get offended. Promise. See you at the box soon mama!
