Let’s get real. Paleo folks can’t exactly take some chicken breasts or meatballs on the road to snack on, and who wants to lug a big cooler around or eat a browned avocado anyway. So we’re sharing some of our favorite paleo-friendly, refrigerator-less, easy-to-carry snacks that require nothing but maybe a sandwich bag or a plastic container.

Hard Boiled Eggs

Eggs don’t have to be limited to breakfast. Eggs are great because they’re packed with protein and offer plenty of vitamins, minerals, and disease-fighting nutrients. They’re easily transportable and don’t make a mess - score! The only downside is that you’re sort of on a time clock with them because they really shouldn’t sit at room temperature for more than two hours or so.

Vegetable Chips

The homemade kind, that is. They’re pretty easy to make too. Just pick your favorite vegetable, slice it into chip-like form, season to your liking, and stick them in the oven. Kale chips are one of the best choices out there, but if that’s not your jam, starchier vegetables like carrots, parsnips, sweet potatoes, and zucchini work well too.

Raw Tree Nuts and Trail Mix

Nuts are an awesome healthy fat and offer all sorts of nutrients. But they’re also high in calories, so watch your portion size. Just toss a handful of raw, unsalted nuts in a bag and you’re good to go. Or if you want a little variety, mix a variety of your favorite tree nuts together, and throw in some unsweetened coconut shreds and seeds (Psst! Don’t forget peanuts are off limits.)
